What We Do
Community Councils are voluntary organisations established by statute. We have the right to be consulted by Glasgow City Council on matters ranging from the City Plan
to local planning, parking and other proposals. Our views are recognised as coming from a group representing local residents. We receive notification of planning and licensing applications.
Local councillors, community police and, on invitation, Council officers attend our monthly meeting to report on developments and respond to local concerns. We are not a political body and views are expressed upon a personal basis. You are welcome to attend and we hope you will consider joining us.
We are interested in the quality of life on the Southside. We want to make life here better.
Recurrent issues are:
- Local Planning
- Late licenses
- Environment including waste collection, green initiatives, litter
- Crime including youth disorder, graffiti
- Local events, such as Clean-Up campaigns, South Side Festival
- Parking and traffic
- Recreation and leisure facilities
